Chandigarh, January 2, 2015: The Punjabi entertainment world has got a new identity now. Information related to old and new artists of Punjabi entertainment industry and all other aspects have been put together into websitewww.pollyway.com. The renowned stars of Punjabi entertainment industry launched this portal portal today at Chandigarh Press Club. The Pollway Punjabi Film Awards, which would be conferred through online voting, were also announced at the occasion. The award ceremony would be held in February.
Punjabi singer-actor Harbhajan Maan launched the portal formally , while renowned singer Pammi Bai, actress Gurleen Chopra and actor Harish Verma announced the Punjabi Film Award. The film critic and journalist Sapan Manchanda is director of this portal, while the Punjabi Film Awards too are being held with the support of his team.
Speaking at the event Sapan Manchanda said that after coming out with the first directory of Punjabi film industry, the portal www.pollyway.com is his second big project. It took him two years to develop this website which has been prepared by 17 years old youngsters Shahbaz Singh. Shahbaz Singh is the youth who prepared first online Punjabi spell check software Gurakhar at the age of 15 years defeating the experts of Punjab’s universities.
Sapan Manchanda and Shahbaz Singh said that such exhaustive database of Punjabi movies has never existed before the www.pollyway.com. Through this website, online voting would be done in different categories of the Punjabi artist and the winners would be honored. Also the portal would encourage short films by holding Short Film Festival. The website has complete information about Punjabi film and artists. The website also has information on contact numbers and other details of the artists.
The guests at event Harbhajan Maan and Pammi Bai appreciated the efforts of Sapan Manchanda. They said that the Punjabi film industry was long waiting for such an online initiative as lot of important information regarding Punjabi film industry was unavailable in public domain. The information existing on the internet is incorrect.
The star studded event also saw participation of distributor Munish Sahni, UMPL Company’s managing director Tara Singh Uppal, actress Gurleen Chopra, film director Gurcharan Virk, actress Mehreen Kalike, Shivani Saini, Anita Swadish, Dilkhush Thind.
