The beautiful and talented actress who has essayed both modern and sari clad roles with ease is now all set to enter Sahara One's Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka Aangan Hoga produced by Rajshri Production's.

Sources inform that Soniya has been signed to play the role of Angi. Her character will be a big threat to Angana (Aleeza Khan) and Saumya's (Aamir Ali) love paradise. Angi will be a negative role and she will be introduced opposite Saumya. Her character will be brought to add spice to the show and Soniya will enter a month later in Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka...

When contacted, Sonia Singh said, "Yes, I am doing the show but it's too early to comment anything on the role that I will be playing."

The popular choreographer joins the show as the third judge

Terrence Lewis has joined the panel as the third judge on ‘DID Super Moms’. The master of contemporary dance has sorted out his previous date issues and will once be seen on this mega dance platform along with co-judges Marzi Pestonji and Farah Khan.

“’Dance India Dance’ will always be home to me,” says Terrence about his return to the show. “I have been an integral part of ‘Dance India Dance’  and the talent has never failed to surprise me. With a thought that the best way to educate communities globally would be the most sought after entertainment industry.

Anmol Kapoor brilliantly explains, “I am making a movie the audiences would love to watch, a typical socio-drama film. You go buy a ticket and the proceeds go to “dilwalk.in”, an organisation treating the cancer patients.” Anmol Kapoor who intends to educate the South Asian communities in India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, is of the opinion that a community helps community.

“Patiala Dreamz is not just a typecast Punjabi film, having renowned Punjabi actors, the movie is backed by Bollywood artistes, singers and a Bollywood production house is involved. Patiala Dreamz will be dubbed in many languages. I’m not looking towards marketing only in the South Asian nations but also in Russia (where I got my medical degree from), Germany, Holland and USA,” said Kapoor.

Talking on the marketing front, the Doctor-cum-Producer further adds, “Punjabis are omnipresent and moreover I have a tie up with many media associations in Canada who are our active partners in supporting and promoting the film keeping the core message intact of helping our community.”

A social worker in the true sense, he answers the modest question as to why the proceeds entirely be given to the NGOs, he explains, “In Canada the Govt. take care of all the medical treatment anyway and I don’t plan to buy a Porsche or a Ferrari. Here I have taken Bollywood as a social project. I have put my heart and soul and I am working towards the finished project to be the best and entertaining though.”

Preeti Kochhar’s hubby cleans up his act after watching ‘Connected Hum Tum’

Ever since Zee TV’s show ‘Connected Hum Tum’ has gone on air, its six women participants have begun to experience life changes that are leaving them smiling ear to ear! The show which acts as a mouth-piece to the women of today, hears their side of the story, lets them tell the world how they really feel, has actually got their own families tuning in and listening to them with attention.

In one of the recent episodes of the show, belly dance instructor-cum-dentist Preeti Kochhar who juggles being a mother, wife, her profession and her passion for dance, in a moment of frustration, cribbed to the camera that her husband invariably flings the towel around after his bath on the bed and she, being a stickler for orderliness, invariably picks it after him.

Preeti says, “It was a delightful surprise for me when my husband actually started making a conscious effort to park his towel in the right place after his bath on seeing that episode. He’s been religiously doing so lately. Moreover, he’s been spending more time with us at home. Looks like the show’s really working! I hope more and more men watching the show and the stories of our lives begin to understand their own mothers, wives, girlfriends and sisters better and act more sensitively towards them as a result!”

Preeti Kochhar also reports having been inundated with friend requests on Facebook from long-lost friends and relatives she hadn’t been in touch with for years ever since the show has gone on air. “Everybody suddenly wants to be my friend and I’m just loving it!”

Its celebration time on SAB TV’s Chidiyaghar. Child actors from the show Chidiyaghar Gaj, Gillu and Cheetiarranged a special surprise for their on-screen fathers, Ghotak, Gomukh and Babuji! And word is that they planned it all by themselves without anyone knowing! And this isn’t meant to melt your heart just yet. Wait, till you hear what the surprise is!

On Fathers’ day, the kids started shooting early in the morning and were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ghotak, Gomukh and Babuji. However, impatience dawned upon them as they constantly had their eyes set on the gates of the set, waiting for the actors to arrive. Finally when they arrived, the loud cheer made way for a heart-warming welcome and the kids presented Ghotak, Gomukh and Babuji with handmade greeting cards that they had been working on, for days! Along with that, the kids also went to the extent of gifting the actors their favourite on-screen things.They gifted Babuji a CD of Mukesh songs, Ghotak received a beautiful mug for he loves tea and Gomukh was gifted a very cute diary and a pen to go along with it. This was beyond thoughtful and the kids’ surprise had everyone on the sets emotional and fuzzy!

When asked about the reason behind the surprise, the kids hit the bull’s eye with their affectionate and endearing answer. They said, “While shooting we call all three of them Papa and they mean nothing less than that to us. We really feel like a family here on the sets of ChidiyaGhar. Whether on-screen or off the reel, Babuji is always teaching us valuable life lessons and Ghotak papa and Gomukhchacha are always helping us and guiding us like fathers do.”

Rajendra Gupta who essays the role of Babuji exclaimed, “It was such a beautiful surprise. We were all taken aback with the affectionate surprise that the kids had planned for us. I had not even imagined that I would be stepping on sets and this would be in store for us. It almost brought us to tears. The innocence and the thought behind this surprise was genuinely gratifying.”

Well, it looks like it rained emotions and heart-warming feelings on the sets of SAB TV’s ChidiyaGhar on the occasion of Father’s Day, this year! What do you have planned for your fathers?

SAB TV is all geared up with yet another interesting sequence on the popular show, Balveer. This time, it is more dramatic, more magical and much more entertaining! Pari-lok seems to have cleared out clean. Where is everyone? The good and the bad have both gone missing. Yes, Balveer and Bawanderpari are nowhere to be seen. Neither is any of the paris!

Last we heard was that Bhayankarpari’s wand has fallen on dharti-lok. While Montu, Ballu and Meher are enjoying the powers that the wand possesses, the world is essentially at the mercy of a group of three kids.

Word is that everyone is looking for Bhayankarpari’s wand because of the extra-ordinary powers that it possesses. Balveer, Natkhatpari and DoobaDooba are all on dharti-lok and the most interesting part is that they are in disguise and absolutely unrecognizable. The sequence begins with all three of them steeping down to dharti-lok to get the wand off the kids’ hands. In the midst of all the chaos, there is a cyclone and it is Natkhatpari in her natkhat new avatar who spots Bawanderpari.

While both sides are looking for the wand, Balveer to save the planet and Bawanderpari to destroy the planet, the question is which side ultimately gets the wand? Will Balveer succeed in his attempts at getting the wand or will Bawanderpari outsmart him and eventually over power him?

Speaking of the sequence and her avatar, Aditi Sajwan (Natkhatpari) stated, “I’m really excited for this sequence to take place. It is a very interesting action-packed track. DoobaDooba and I are to help Balveer find the wand. And for this, we have to disguise ourselves to protect our identities. I had a really great time shooting for this sequence and I’m sure that the viewers are going to thoroughly enjoy watching it.”

An elated Dev Joshi stated, “Playing my part in this track was a lot of fun. I come down to dharti-lok to find a wand and I’m extremely hell bent on getting it no matter what. I have Natkhatpari & DoobaDooba who are also unceasingly supporting me in every way possible to save the planet. There’s some great action, a lot of magic and lots of entertainment coming the way of the audiences. Shooting for this track for great fun!”

Even though the hell-bent, heroic Balveer is successful at securing the wand, he is finally unable to trap BawanderPari. So, there’s lots more to see of Bawanderpari and hopefully soon, a face-off between the two. But what are the evil schemes running through Bawanderpari’s mind now? Where is she going to unleash the ‘bawander’ to cause misery?

Ekta Kapoor casts the handsome actor as Adham Khan

When you last saw Chetan Hansraj, he was on the big screen doing what he does best – being the villain to whoever was the hero of the day. The roguishly handsome actor is now all set to come back to the world of television with Zee TV’s historical magnum opus – Jodha Akbar! Chetan is to play Adham Khan, the son of Mahamanga and foster brother to emperor Akbar. 

Though auditions for the lead roles took months, it seems that Chetan was an immediate pick for the part. The character of Adham Khan is Mahamanga’s son who was always compared to Akbar and detested it. Though physically stronger than Akbar, his mother always put him down in comparison which led to him feeling hurt and thinking that his mother preferred Akbar over him.

Although he once again is playing a negative character, the actor doesn’t necessarily think it is a bad thing. “There are many facets to playing a negative character onscreen. There are shades of grey along with the deep dark shades of negativity that one needs to portray. Plus, playing the bad guy has never lost me any fans. In fact my fans have always appreciated the different negative characters I have played and always send me their love and support. It is also said that women love bad boys, so isn’t that a win-win situation?!” says Chetan with an impish grin.

When asked about working with Balaji repeatedly, Chetan says “ Everyone knows that I started my career with Balaji, so it's an amazing experience working with them again and again. It always makes me feel like I'm working for my home production.

Bollywood dimpled beauty Gul Panag debuts with Sikander alongwith Kartar Cheema who had won many hearts with his hit films `Yaar Anmulle’ and `Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’.

The film has a script that covers the issue of students’ politics that ultimately lead to organised crime amongst students and corrupt practices. Kartar Cheema plays the title character Sikander, a boy from Mansa who gets involved into students’ politics and is eventually whirled into bigger political arena. He falls in love with Beant (played by Gul Panag) but she has a different approach towards life. Eventually Sikander becomes victim of circumstances.

The portrayal of Beant Kaur sends a strong message that woman characters are not just for songs and beauty bonanza.

Though Sikander is a content driven film that contains a social message but it has a mix of scintillating music and entertainment. The music directors Gurmeet Singh and Davvy Singh have presented an electric mix of Bhangra and Hip Hop. The versatile music of the film has various songs sung by different singers. Punjabi singer and actor Pammi Bai is busy these days in the shooting of his upcoming album of songs “Virsa Na Kade Bhulayo Sher Punjab Deyo”.
This album is being directed by Rawinder Singh Rangoowal. The shooting of this forthcoming album took place in the Sunet village, near Ludhiana, on Sunday.
Pammi was wearing very attractive and colourful dress depicting Punjabi culture at the time of shooting for the album.
A large number of villagers had gathered to witness the shooting of the song. Prominent among them, included, Baba Bohar of Punjabi culture Jagdev Singh Jassowal.
The rural gathering enjoyed a great the shooting of the album.
After seeing the shooting, the villagers were seen enthused to watch the album. They were hopeful that the upcoming album of songs “Virsa Na Kade Bhulayo Sher Punjab Deyo” will set a new milestone in the Punjabi singing segment.

Connected Hum Tum participant regrets having lashed out at loving MIL on National Television

When Zee TV's 'Connected Hum Tum' brought on board six women to showcase their personal lives on national television and under the public glare, the participants knew that it would entail sharing their innermost thoughts in front of millions of viewers. Yet, they bravely ventured out … doing what most others would squeamishly shy away from. After all, it can never be an easy thing to let people see you on your worst days, expressing emotions that you you will not be proud of even a day later!

Such was the case with Preeti Kochchar, one of the six women, who in a state of frustration vented out against her mother-in-law calling her someone with a "third class mentality". This was in the course of a conversation with her 'Connected Hum Tum' camera almost a year ago when her relationship with her mother-in-law was somewhat strained. Today, her equation with her mother-in-law has changed for the better and the telecast of this episode shocked senior Kochhar who was driven to tears on seeing Preeti lash out at her on national television.

Preeti rues the day she made that comment and was waiting anxiously for its telecast to get over as she could only imagine how her mother-in-law would feel on watching her speak like that. She says, "I went overboard in saying this about a woman who is genuinely miles ahead of most women when it comes to being a mother, a mother-in-law and above all a caring, mature, sensitive person. I said what I said in a weaker moment when things between us weren't going too well. But this comment of mine and its telecast have deeply hurt her and understandably so. I tried profusely apologizing to her, but this will take a while to heal. We had come a long way in terms of our equation in the last one year ... we'd grown more positive towards each other, I am worried this insensitive comment on my part doesn't take us back to square one!"

She adds, "I would like to share that my mother-in-law is an extremely respectable person, she's been a school principal. I should have known better than to speak so harshly about her in public! I think all of us should live life with a camera watching us like I’ve been living for the last few months... with a camera recording your every move, one needs to be responsible about all we  say or do…I truly regret my remark against my mother-in-law!"

“It’s rather intriguing that a man should set out to get his own wife remarried!” says the actor

When actor Imran Khan recently landed on the sets of Zee TV’s primetime soap ‘Punarvivaah … Ek Nayi Umeed’ to promote his upcoming release ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2’, he just thought he’d deliver his lines, shake a leg and leave. Instead, he found himself rather fascinated and intrigued by the plot of the show.

Imran told actor Karan V Grover who plays the main lead Raaj in the show, “I think your role in Punarvivaah is most fascinating. Imran adds, “What appealed to me the most was the idea of two people who have chosen to separate as a result of their incompatibility and yet continue to cultivate a dignified, cordial relationship post their divorce – the fact that the man would care enough to set out in search of a suitable groom for his ex-wife speaks volumes about how there can be positivity between two people even if their marriage has ended. This is a progressive thought and I’m glad to see television mirroring the changing times!”

Actress sulks about having to dance solo at Zee TV’s Mahasangam episode

While actress Surbhi Jyoti might be on top of the world having danced with Imran Khan in the coming week’s ‘Punarvivaah’ , “Connected’ and ‘Qubool Hai’ Mahasangam, her co-star Srishty Rode certainly isn’t  as cheerful! The actress was apparently sulking on the day of the shoot when she realised that she was dancing a solo while Surbhi got the chance to dance with Bollywood cutie Imran Khan and also performed a romantic act with her co-star Karan Singh Grover.

“Why don’t I get to dance with Imran?” Shrishty was overheard asking a member of the production team. “I love Imran!” said Shrishty with a smile when asked how she felt about Imran making an appearance on the show. “Who can resist his boyish good looks and oodles of charm? I was so envious of Surbhi who got an opportunity to dance with him. He is one of the most talented young actors in Bollywood and it is an absolute pleasure to have him on the sets. You usually hear from people that he is a very reserved actor who doesn’t mix with a lot of people, but the Imran that we saw on the sets was very friendly and sat around with us between shots making conversation with everyone. Initially I was in awe of him but once you talk to him, you get over being awestruck. He is the warmest, most friendly person you could meet! Look at me, I can’t seem to stop gushing about him” she said with a giggle.

Romance blossoms between Asad and Zoya once again …

Fans of Asad and Zoya have something to look forward to this week! While the lead pair of Zee TV’s ‘Qubool Hai’ might have gone their separate ways in the show, this Thursday sees them reunite once again as romance blossoms between the pair in a dream sequence on the Mahasangam of ‘Qubool Hai’, ‘Connected Hum Tum’ and ‘Punarvivaah’. After weeks of having to give each other the cold shoulder and enacting scenes of separation, the actors welcomed a change in tempo with open arms!

“This romantic act was such a welcome change. After our characters have had to go through such turbulent ups and downs onscreen, with each scene ending in tears of angst, this performance could not have come at a better time. I happen to love the song ‘Teri meri prem kahani’. It gives me goose bumps and is on my playlist of romantic songs which I listen to almost every two days. I know that viewers are going to draw parallels to Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor when they see this song but I think Karan and I have done justice to the track. Given the situation that our characters are in at the moment, this song is perfect!” said Surbhi about shooting for the sequence.

The choreographer had a huge crush on the Grandmaster

“I had a huge crush on Dada when I was younger!” said Farah Khan unabashedly as she shot for Zee TV’s ‘DID Super Moms’. “In fact, I even hunted around for a good wallet sized picture of him to put in my wallet.”

With Prateik Babbar and Amarya on the show to promote their upcoming film ‘Isaaq’, the theme of the episode was ‘first love’. When all of the contestants confessed about the first time they fell in love, it was Farah’s turn to answer the all important question of the day – ‘Tell us about your first love.”

Farah went on to say how she had fallen in love with Mithunda’s character in the film ‘Hum Paanch’ when she watched it. “Dada might be known as the ‘disco dancer’ all over the country but little do people know what a Rockstar he was back in the day! All I remember about watching the movie was giggling with my friends about how good looking Dada was. For the longest time, I carried his picture in my wallet! My brother had also gotten his autograph which I still have somewhere at home.”

On hearing this, Miithunda turned a bright beetroot red while Jai Bhanushali and Raghav took turns to tease him about it.

This Sunday, the stars of the film ‘Isaaq’ Prateik Babbar and Amarya  joined the contestants on stage to shake a leg with the best dancing moms in the country.
