Zee Classic, India’s first classic movie channel brings back popular show Classic Legends with season 3 ready to create some more excitement as host Javed Akhtar takes the audience througha journey of the lives of some renowned stars of Indian Cinema.Having kick-started the season with an insight into Yash Chopra’s life, the second episode airs on November 9th showcasing the life of magnanimous star – Sanjeev Kumar.
Sanjeev Kumar who is popularly known forplaying 9 different roles in the movie Naya Din Nai Raat was never the first choice for his role in the movie. There was another popular actor, an actor who redefined love with his outstanding performance in Mughal-E-Azam. Yes, that’s right; A. Bhimsingh initially wanted to cast Dilip Kumar for this role but Dilip was so awed by Sanjeev Kumar’s performance in Sangharsh while they worked together that he suggested Sanjeev’s name since he believed that he would fit into the role perfectly and do justice to it.
We must applaud Dilip Kumar’s spirit for being able to pass such an entertaining and challenging role to an actor who clearly deserved to play it!
