Honey and Saumya are as pretty as dolls.

The Li’l Masters bring out the dancers in India’s Best Dramebaazes

What do you get when you bring the country’s most talented dancers and actors together on the same stage? – an explosion of talent ofcourse! When it comes to acting, no one can deny that the country’s most talented li’l actors are the kids on Zee TV’s ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’! But when the most talented li’l actors meet the most gifted li’l dancers, sparks are bound to fly as the stage is set ablaze with some fabulous performances!

This week, ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’ will see loads of fun and masti as the best dancers from DID Li’l Masters join them for a special episode of India’s Best Dramebaaz. And while the Li’l Masters picked up a thing or two about acting from our dramebaazes, the surprise element was watching the hidden dancing talents of our dramebaazes come alive on stage! As Gracy paired up with Faisal for a gravity defying aerial act that will have viewers holding their breath, Chinmay showed off his popping and locking skills to the judges as he matched steps with Rohan in a robotic act. Even Anjali got a chance to show off her bharatnatyam moves with the ever expressive Shalini as she danced her way through a transformation from a witch to an angel. So stunned were the judges by the kids’ acts that they all drew perfect 10s in their score cards!

While Om challenged Anurag da and Vivek Oberoi to do some back flips along with him, Rohan showed off his “slo-mo” dace moves that made him a huge favourite as he presented a rose to Sonali in his signature style. Sonali couldn’t help but be charmed by him as she gushed about his gesture to everyone post the shoot.

“These kids are an absolute delight!” said Anurag da after the shoot. “To see such fabulous talent on one stage is just mind blowing! And to think that none of these kids are over 12 years old…  The way in which they act and dance is enough to bring a smile to anyone. I would never have thought that I would see Gracy or Chinmay perform a dance number with such finesse and to see them doing so after just a week of rehearsals makes me very proud. I loved watching them match steps with Faisal and Rohan; their acts were like watching poetry in motion! Ofcourse, we knew that Anjali was a trained dancer right from day 1 of the auditions but seeing her dance again onstage has made all of us happy!”

Chhota Bheem on India's Best Dramebaaz.

While the little actors of Zee TV’s India’s Best Dramebaaz are used to having Bollywood celebrities make appearances week after week, they were in for a big surprise at the shoot of the latest episode. Yes! It was none other than the popular animated character Chhota Bheem who paid them a visit!

When the show’s anchor Rithvik Dhanjani showed up dressed as Gabbar and threatened to loot the kids and judges, it was time for Chhota Bheem to emerge miraculously and jump to their rescue. The kids then insisted that he stays on and joins in for of a special episode of India’s Best Dramebaaz where the talented contestants of DID L’il Masters had joined the Dramebaaz brat-pack for a double dose of acting and dancing.

Chhota Bheem stayed on for the shoot but on one condition – the kids would participate  in a marathon race of eating his favorite laddoos with him … Chhota Bheem’s wish was the creative team’s command and it was a sight to behold when the kids, judges and anchors all attacked the motichoor laddoos brought on to the stage.

The audience was thrilled to see Bheem join the little powerhouses of dance – the ex-contestants of DID L’il Masters Faisal Khan, Rohan, Om Saumya, Shreya & Shalini for a group dance act. The animated character dances with such gusto was a delight for all Chhota Bheem fans!

Chhota Bheem watched the shoot of the entire episode with rapt attention and gave his own cute, unique reactions to the acts put up by the Dramebaazes. It was a touching moment when Bheem got teary eyed on seeing the kids perform Munshi Premchand’s Igdah – a heart-warming tale of a young boy and his grandmother.

(Watch Chhota Bheem on an entertainment-packed episode of India’s Best Dramebaaz on Sunday, 28th May at 9 PM only on Zee TV.)

FROM memory lanes….

The Author.

Legend singer of the pre-Independence period Shamshad  Begum is no more but songs sung by her are still “alive” in my memories. I have been admirer of her songs over the decades. I used to dance infront of radio after listening to her songs decades ago. I still remember, her songs were aired on Radio Lahore during pre-Independence era. Radio Lahore had fixed Wednesday for airing film songs and songs lovers like me used to wait for a week to listen to the voice of singer like Shamshad  Begum, K.L. Sehgal and Noorjehan.

I still remember, it was the time when there was no other source of entertainment except radio, films and theatre. She has really sun memorable songs in the movies `Mela’, `Mother India’, `Patanga’, `Babul’ and `C.I.D.’. I think we have lost a Golden Voice forever. But, the songs she sung in the past will never die.

Zee Cinema’s ‘South Ka Super Punch’!!!

A man is shot in the chest, and guess what … not only does the bullet deflect off his chest with a "ping" sound but it flies back and finishes the man who shot it. Genius? Well, it can only happen in a south Indian blockbuster! Giving viewers a double-shot of unadulterated masala and hilarious, over-the-top action, Zee Cinema presents  ‘South Ka Super Punch’ – a two week-long festival of popular southern blockbusters dubbed in Hindi. Bound to have you on the edge of your seats with zany, zippy action and rib-tickling comedy, the festival will have the premiere of Hindi dubbed versions of runaway Southie successes like No. 1 Businessman, Aag Ka Gola & Aakhri Baazi. The festival that will air starting 29th April, every Monday to Friday at 9 PM will include films featuring the biggest stars of the south like Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Nagarjuna and Ravi Teja. The line-up of films include Kasam Hindustan Ki, The Real Tiger, Aar Paar: The Judgement Day, Warrior, Durga IPS, Hindustani Yodha & Mera Krodh.

The creative route Zee Cinema has chosen to promote the festival involves a very catchy, off-beat promo. Instead of showcasing any of the stars or even visuals from the films being aired as a part of the ‘South Ka Super Punch’ festival, the promo raises a toast to the sheer flashiness and flamboyance of southern cinema and its unique brand of comical action. It features a special rap song that has been composed in-house by the creative team at Zee Cinema, celebrating the magnificent larger-than-life attributes of these films. The promo has been widely appreciated across the country ever since it went on air two weeks ago.

Cashing in on the current rage of cricket, Zee Cinema has created some very witty cricket-centric comic strips, spoofing the most widely discussed developments from the ongoing series and associating them with the festival in a unique manner. These comic strips will be available  across various digital platforms and create a stir in the social media around the festival.

Mohan Gopinath, Business Head, Hindi Movie cluster,ZEEL  said, “In times when we all lead hectic lives, viewers look to cinema or television as a stress-buster. Cinema from the South with its larger-than-life hero worship and flamboyant brand of action and drama, serve as a beautiful avenue for escapism where people can forget all their stress and have a good laugh. These films have been enormous successes down south and the lead actors are worshipped like demi-Gods. Dubbed versions of south films have always rated extremely well each time we have aired these in the past and there is a strong demand for us to air more such films. Our previous festival of a similar nature ‘Dosa Meets Samosa’ had met with an overwhelming response. We’re confident that the audience will enjoy the new festival too!”

So, to experience the magic of south Indian cinema, tune into ‘South Ka Super Punch’ at 9 PM every Monday-Friday starting 29th April, only on Zee Cinema.

Sachiin J Joshi and Sunny Leone at the shoot of Sachiin J Joshi's XXX energy drink by Viiking Ventures.

After Jism 2, Ragini MMS and Shootout at Wadala, there is a lot to lookout for Sunny Leone.

But the feather on S?unny’s overcrowded cap was that she is now the brand ambassador of young turk Sachiin Joshi’s XXX energy drink, where she has been roped in as the brand ambassador. Sunny is naturally elated at the thought as the 1.5 crore endorsement of XXX that stands for Xtreme Xcitement Xperience has moved her into the a ‘A’ lister endorsement league.

When we meet Sunny at the shoot of the XXX energy drink commercial, the pretty woman is at ease sipping the drink, tackling the sweltering heat at a beautiful Mudh island bungalow with ease.

And you realise there is more to this woman than just the looks. It is her energy that probably made Sachiin J Joshi choose her over the rest.

Sunny is forthright in her answers. “Sachiin J Joshi and I hang out in the same circle. And when I heard the concept, I simply loved it. I have tasted XXX energy drink before and I love the taste. More than that I like Sachiin‘s vision. So I was excited about endorsing XXX energy drink.”

Sunny adds that what made her give an immediate nod was the fact that the brand comes in three flavours, Rejuve, Minus and Nicofix. “I love Rejuve, but Nicofix fixes your craving for nicotine while Minus helps you lose weight. I think no other brand comes with such variants,” enthuses Sunny, as she takes a break for a few seconds on a beach chair.

It is Sunny’s dedication besides her persona that has made Sachiin Joshi choose her, you feel. Sachiin seconds this. “Sunny is in every teenager’s mind. More than that, she is a wonderful person and I think, after working with her, we made the perfect choice.”

“It felt good to step into Kareena’s shoes,” says Ragini Khanna as she enacts Kareena Kapoor’s seductive ‘Muskaanein Jhoothi Hai’ performance in Talaash for this week’s episode of Zee TV’s Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan. And why shouldn’t it? After all Kareena is the kind of woman that every girl aspires to be.

“I think Kareena Kapoor is absolutely stunning and having a chance to portray a character like hers is very exciting!” says Ragini. “This also gave me an opportunity to work with Additi, Sanjeeda and Kiran – all of whom are brilliant actors. I have heard so much about the show that I jumped at the opportunity of being a part of it, even if it was just for a guest appearance.”

“Ragini was a lot of fun to work with! She is such a bundle of energy that it is hard to feel anything but cheerful around her.” Says Additi Gupta. “I think she did a really good job of bringing to life Kareena Kapoor’s song and gave it a whole new interpretation.”

Sonali Bendre and Juhi Chawla dance to Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam.

Tells Juhi Chawla: “I had the biggest crush on you!”

The actor confesses his childhood love on ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’

You never forget your first love and Vivek Oberoi surely hasn’t forgotten his! When seeing Juhi Chawla up, close and personal on the sets of Zee TV’s ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’, the actor came clean about his long harbored crush on the lovely actress. “I had a huge crush on you after watching Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,” confessed Vivek as he watched Juhi shake a leg to ‘Ghazab Ka Hai Din’ from the same film. Juhi however laughed out loud saying, ‘You mean you had a crush on me when you were 10 years old?” making Vivek blush a bright beetroot red.

“It was such a big coincidence that Juhi was on our sets on the 25th anniversary of QSQT’s release. I very clearly remember watching the film as a kid and had a huge crush on ‘Radhika’. She became the epitome of the woman I aspired to date. Even back then, her vivacious ways and cute smile were so endearing that I think all the boys in India fell in love with her. I watched the film over and over again just to relive the story of Raj and Radhika which I found extremely sweet.” Says judge Vivek Oberoi with a grin.

Even li’l Nihar dropped onto his knees and broke into a song as he asked Juhi to join him onstage for a dance to ‘Ghazab Ka Hai Din’ where he played the role of Raj to her Radhika. Juhi was charmed by the idea of having a 5 year old Raj and promptly got up to accompany him.

The actress was on the show to promote her upcoming film ‘Hum Hai Rahi Car Ke’ along with her co-stars, Dev Goel and Adah Sharma. The trio were amazed by the wholesome talent on the show and were full of effusive praise for all the kids.

To help you make your decisions, here is a little about the Top 12 contestants on ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’.

Aditya Singhal – This serious actor from Pune is all of 12 years old but his acting makes him seem much more mature for his age. Though he began his stint on the show with more comic performances, his recent stints as Lord Ram and Maharana Pratap have marked him as a heavy-duty actor.

Anjali Astha – This 10 year old from Mohali first came to the judges’ attention as the possessed ‘Chandramukhi’ with her dance-theatre based act during the auditions. Throughout the season though she has played older roles, Anjali’s playfulness often comes out between takes.

Avni Gupta – It is hard to find fault with this adorable seven year old from Dehradun. For weeks, she has impressed the judges with her vast range of expressions, emotions and drama which not many actors of her age portray with ease.

Chinmay Deshkar – 12 year old Chinmay Deshkar from Nagpur is an excellent actor and dancer although his mischievous side gets the better of him at times. His uncanny impressions of other Bollywood actors has left the judges and audience in splits of laughter.

Gracy Goswami– This pretty 7 year old from Ahmedabad, lives up to her name and has managed to charm her way into the hearts of viewers with her demure acting and graceful dancing that leaves viewers with a smile when they watch her onscreen.

Honey Khilwani – One of the most versatile actors on the show, at 10 years of age, Honey has taken on a variety of roles and acted them out with aplomb. While theatrics are in her blood, Honey sees herself becoming an accomplished actress in the years to come and has already taken classes in anchoring and dancing to help her achieve her goal.

Mehnaaz Mann – Just 8 years old, Mehnaaz Mann is a veritable powerhouse of talent who was first noticed at the auditions with her moving act about the Jallianwala baug massacre. Being in front of an audience doesn’t faze Mehnaaz who has already performed onstage with her mother who is a theatre actress. She too dreams of becoming an actress when she grows up.

Nihar GIte – 6 year old Nihar GIte is the cutest li’l kid that you will find. And this has won him brownie points with his co-contestants, judges and the audience alike. But don’t let his tiny frame fool you. Nihar’s narrative skills and the ease with which he remembers everything from Sanskrit shloks or patriotic speeches leaves the audience and judges alike absolutely spellbound!

Praneet Sharma – 5 year old Praneet Sharma has an uncanny way of making people like him. Whether it is his impression of Shakti Kapoor’s ‘Aao Lalita’ or his ‘Chota Sa Nanha Sa Bacha’, Praneet leaves the judges and viewers wanting to pinch his cheeks! Though he loves eating, Praneet is mostly lost in his own world. He has his own take on the world around him and answers questions with the most random answers. That’s life according to Praneet for you!

Sayuri Haralkar – At 12 years old, one cannot discount Sayuri’s acting skills. Though she isn’t as forthcoming or outgoing as the rest, Sayuri  has a natural flair for drama and this comes across clearly in all her performances.

Tejasvini Deshmukh – Soft spoken and shy, 9 year old Tejasvini first came to light at her auditions in Mumbai where she played the character of ‘Jhilmil’ from ‘Barfi’. Director of the film and judge Anurag Basu was so impressed with this little actress that he compared her performance to that of Priyanka Chopra’s one in the film and acclaimed that she gave a better performance.

Vikrant Massey.

The very dashing Vikrant Massey has been cast as the new ‘Ayaan’ on Zee TV’s hit primetime show, Qubool Hai. After Zee decided to drop Rishabh Sinha from the show owing to his misbehavior and breach of contract, the channel has selected the popular and talented, Vikrant to play the role of Ayaan in Qubool Hai. Quiz Vikrant about replacing Rishabh and pat comes the reply, “I don’t take it as a ‘replacement.’ A good role is a good role. I don’t measure it in terms of its length or whether its subservient to another character or whether I will fit in someone else’s shoes. It doesn’t bother me. I am not insecure and have never been so. I don’t feel the pressure to deliver, but initially one has to match what the previous actor was doing in the show. Qubool Hai is currently No 2 among the Top 10 shows across all GEC’s and its hugely popular abroad especially in the middle east countries. I couldn’t have said no to such a popular show.”

On what prompted him to take up the show, he says “There’s something very cool about the show. It’s so different from the staple saas bahu dramas. It was very gracious of Zee and Gul Khan (producer) to cast me in the role of Ayaan after auditioning many other actors. Ayaan is a popular character and this role is going to be a huge responsibility. I am up for the challenge.”

Ask him about sharing the screen space with heartthrob Karan Singh Grover, Vikrant says, “Oh yes, I’ll be playing the role of his younger brother and I’m really looking forward to work with him. He has tremendous screen presence and a great physique. I guess it will be too much for the viewers to handle Karan and me together on screen…!” winks the actor.

Vikrant will also soon be making his debut in the much anticipated blockbuster, Lootera. Ask him about acting with Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, says the actor, “I have a small but interesting part to play. I feel blessed to have got the chance to work with a director like Vikramaditya Motwane.”

(Vikrant will start shooting shortly for the show. Keep watching Qubool Hai every Monday to Friday at 9:30PM for Vikrant’s grand entry as Ayaan.)
